Termination clause
Termination without cause lets either side end the contract without giving a reason, after a notice period. It does not let an employer fire you for discriminatory reasons or in violation of other employment laws.
The Employer may terminate this agreement at any time for any reason or no reason, without notice or further obligation.
Either party may terminate this agreement at any time for any reason or no reason, with 60 days' prior written notice.
Sample wording written by Andwise for illustration. It is not model contract language.
Questions to ask
- Is the notice period the same length for you and for the employer?
- If the employer ends the contract without cause, does the non-compete still apply?
- Who pays for tail coverage if the contract ends without cause?
