Physician contract checker
Open a contract PDF. Your browser reads it on this device and lists the clauses it recognizes, quoted with page numbers, with questions worth asking about each. Nothing is uploaded.
Choose a contract
This is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney. The checker matches common wording. It can miss a clause written differently, mislabel a sentence, or misread a PDF. It doesn't judge whether a clause is fair or enforceable. Use it to prepare questions for a lawyer licensed in your state.
What it looks for
Twelve clause types that decide most of a physician contract's value and risk. For several it also pulls out the numbers: non-compete distance and duration, notice period, wRVU rate and base salary, call frequency and pay, tail coverage and who pays for it, and time off.
- Assignment
- Benefits
- Call schedule
- Clinical autonomy
- Compensation and wRVU
- Indemnification
- Intellectual property
- Malpractice and tail coverage
- Non-compete
- Non-solicitation
- Outside activities and moonlighting
- Termination
How it works
Your browser reads the text of the PDF with pdf.js, splits it into sentences, and matches each sentence against patterns for each clause type. Matches are quoted with their page number. The site's security policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server, and nothing is saved when you close the tab.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't say whether a clause is fair, standard or enforceable.
- It can't read scanned images. Ask for a text-based PDF.
- It can miss a clause worded unusually. "Not found" means it didn't recognize one, not that none exists.
Use the results to prepare for a conversation with an attorney licensed in your state. For the law behind non-competes, see non-compete laws by state.
