Nebraska physician non-compete law
As of October 21, 2026, Nebraska has no statute specific to physician non-competes; general non-compete law and court decisions apply.
No physician-specific statuteChecked 2026-10-21 · medium confidence
No physician-specific statute. Under Nebraska Supreme Court decisions, a post-employment noncompete must be reasonable. It is generally limited to clients the employee actually did business with and had personal contact with, and courts have generally declined to rewrite overbroad covenants. (Polly v. Ray D. Hilderman & Co., 225 Neb. 662, 407 N.W.2d 751 (1987))
Who it covers
Employees generally under common law; there is no physician-specific rule. LB921 (2026) bans noncompetes only in healthcare staffing-agency contracts. It expressly excludes the practice of medicine and nurse practitioners and becomes operative July 1, 2027.
Notes
Polly v. Ray D. Hilderman & Co. (1987) states the rule. LB921 (2026) bans noncompetes only in health care staffing-agency arrangements, excludes physicians and nurse practitioners, and becomes operative July 1, 2027. 2025-2026 bills were not checked against the official bill search.
